DCU logoOK, hats off INTRA (http://www.dcu.ie/intra) is an incredably simple & easy system to use & understand. But why is it so rigid & annoying? It is infuriating (& some may say ‘unfair’) that one is unable to choose the placement they want…you have to take the first thing you are given. OK, I can sort of understand the reasoning behind that one-don’t want to be left with nothing! But the other problem is Continue reading Intra, Shimntra!…

YouTube

A while ago, some friends told me about You Stream (http://www.youstream.com) and how it was like You Tube (http://www.youtube.com), but in live streams. Well, something has gone wrong along the way! Continue reading You Stream, I Stream……

Newstalk logoHaving an interview with Newstalk (http://newstalk.ie/newstalk/index.html) tomorrow, I went exploring on their website. I really liked it. It lists their shows and has all the details a listner needs on the programme to make contact. When you click on a programme on the right-hand side, you are taken into a description of the programme, e-mail and telephone details for the programme and an option of downloading a podcast of it. News NowWhile rummaging through the net for something new, I came across News Now (http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/). This is quoted as being “The UK’s #1 News Portal” and I do like it’s tagline also “Giving news junkies a good feed”…pun intended I presume. The website has news, businness, sports…and takes them from all different sources, similar to an RSS feed Continue reading News Now…

Well, Russia has done it again…killed journalists that is. According to the International Herald Tribune article (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/03/22/news/Russia-Journalists-Killed.php) ” [Ilyas] Shurpayev, 32, worked for the national channel that served as a Kremlin mouthpiece and has not contradicted the official viewpoint in his reports, the minister said”. But why is that relevant? Continue reading From Russia with love……

Tibet protests

Well I hope all the news junkies out there have heard about the Tibet protests against China over the last few days? CNN (http://edition.cnn.com) have been saying since yesterday that the Chinise government has been blocking out their signal & denying them access to Tibet. What makes this interesting is Continue reading Blog for Tibet…

“What’s the title about?” you ask. Well, good question; why do people bother blogging? Why do readers bother to read blogs? I have no idea. Yes, it is good to have places to express yourself & everyone is entitled to their opinion. But since anyone (& I mean anyone) can write a blog & say whatever they like on the internet, there is no place for serious/decent bloggers (such as myself!) out there. I don’t like to be told what to think, & that is what blogs are trying to do. Not in the obvious “Agree with me or I’ll kill you” way, but in the “This is my opinion, isn’t it a good one” way. I have my own opinions on everything & don’t need some yobbo (http://twentymajor.net/) giving me more. Continue reading What the B!*g?…

ENN vs. Silicon

IT websitesThis is a website I think is very useful for Irish business news & I never heard of it until I went digging on-line. I was surprised it isn’t more widely publisized (www.enn.ie). It markets itself as “Ireland’s IT Newswire” & I assume this puts it in competition with sites such as Silicon Republic (http://www.siliconrepublic.com/). Although Silicon Republic is the better known, ENN also seems to have a handle on IT news here. Continue reading ENN vs. Silicon…
